What began in the mid-1990s with the development of a new standard in grain moisture measurement is now a 30-year success story. As a regional family business deeply rooted in Eastern Styria, Every year we export thousands of high-quality moisture measuring devices made in Austria to almost all countries worldwide. We are among the global leaders in moisture measurement technology for biomass and in paper and pulp technology—a hidden champion, so to speak, in the tranquil town of St. Ruprecht an der Raab. Here at our company headquarters, we cover the entire value chain, from development and production to after-sales support.
In the company's early days, the focus was on grain moisture measurement. However, our founder, Max Schaller, quickly recognized the need for precise water content determination in the biomass sector, and so, at the end of the 90s, the product range was expanded to include measuring devices for wood chips. Gradually, the product portfolio was expanded, and moisture meters were developed for a variety of applications. Today, we offer high-precision solutions for virtually any application in the food, bioenergy, climate & environment, buildings, materials, and paper & cardboard sectors. The diversity of devices is particularly evident in the latter: The determination of water content throughout the entire paper cycle – from wood processing to waste paper disposal – can be covered by Schaller devices.
In 2021, Max Schaller handed over the management to Bernhard Maunz and Florian Postl. The aim of offering users a simple and fast moisture determination with precise measurement results forms the basis of continuous further developments. Whether it's a compact handheld measuring device, an automated measuring device, an online system, or a smart IoT solution – our clear goal is to provide the best possible advice and support to our customers worldwide.
Our innovative approach is reflected in the use and integration of state-of-the-art transmission technologies. These enable the provision of validated measurement values in all aspects of material and climate humidity measurement technology – regardless of location and available at any time. This also makes it possible to to visualize complex tasks in cooperation with our customers and provide measurement data on demand for continuous process optimization.
We look back on three decades of Schaller measurement technology with great pride—and look forward with even greater anticipation. Because we still have a lot planned!
